1. Who we are

2. Data we do NOT collect
Family Memories does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. Specifically, we do not collect:
- Names, birth dates, or profile information about your children
- Photos, voice recordings, or any media you add to the app
- Memories, notes, quotes, or interview answers you write
- Growth measurements (height and weight data)
- Letters to the future or time capsule contents
- Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or tracking tokens
- Crash reports or analytics events
- Location data
3. Where your data is stored
All data you enter into Family Memories — memories, photos, voice clips, interview answers, growth entries and letters — is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's SwiftData local database framework.
This data is included in your device's standard iCloud Backup if you have iCloud Backup enabled in your iPhone settings. This backup is managed entirely by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to your iCloud Backup.
4. Permissions we request
Family Memories may request the following system permissions. Each is only used for the purpose described and is never transmitted externally:
- Camera — to take photos directly within the app and attach them to memories.
- Photo Library — to select photos from your library to add to memories, and to save exported PDF memory books to your library.
- Microphone — to record voice clips of your child (Premium feature). Recordings are saved locally on your device only.
- Face ID / Touch ID — to lock the app with biometrics if you choose to enable this in Settings. Biometric data is handled entirely by iOS; we never access it directly.
- Notifications — to send daily capture reminders and birthday reminders at times you configure. All notification scheduling happens on-device.
5. In-app purchases
The Lifetime Full Access in-app purchase is processed entirely by Apple via StoreKit 2. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information. Your purchase history is managed by Apple under their privacy policy.
Family Sharing for this purchase is handled by Apple. We receive only a cryptographic receipt confirming you have made the purchase — no personal payment details.
6. Children's privacy
Family Memories is designed to be used by parents and guardians to record memories about their children. The app itself does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. All content entered into the app is stored locally on the parent's or guardian's device.
We do not display advertising, and no child data is ever transmitted to us or any third party.
7. Third-party services
Family Memories uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The only external service used is Apple's App Store and StoreKit for purchase processing, which is subject to Apple's own privacy policy.
8. Home Screen widget
The Family Memories Home Screen widget displays a summary of today's question and your memory streak. Widget data (child name, question of the day, streak count) is shared between the app and the widget extension using an iOS App Group — a local on-device storage mechanism. This data does not leave your device.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
