Frequently Asked Questions

How do I record my first demo? +
  1. Open Xcode and launch an iOS Simulator with your app running
  2. Open DemoFlow AI โ€” it will automatically detect the Simulator
  3. Click "Start AI Capture" on the home screen
  4. Use your app in the Simulator as you normally would โ€” DemoFlow AI records everything and tracks every tap
  5. When done, click "Stop & Save"
  6. Choose a narration tone and click "Create AI Demo"
  7. GPT-4o will analyse your screens, write a script, and generate the demo video automatically
DemoFlow AI says "No Simulator Detected" โ€” what do I do? +

DemoFlow AI requires an iOS Simulator to be actively running on screen. Try these steps:

  1. Open Xcode and run your app on a Simulator (or open Simulator.app directly from /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Applications/)
  2. Make sure the Simulator window is visible on screen โ€” DemoFlow AI detects it via ScreenCaptureKit and requires it to be visible
  3. If you have multiple Simulators running, DemoFlow AI will show a picker โ€” select the one you want to record
  4. Quit and relaunch DemoFlow AI if the Simulator was opened after the app
Screen Recording permission was denied โ€” how do I fix it? +
  1. Open System Settings on your Mac
  2. Go to Privacy & Security โ†’ Screen Recording
  3. Find DemoFlow AI in the list and toggle it on
  4. Quit and relaunch DemoFlow AI

If DemoFlow AI doesn't appear in the list, try clicking "Start AI Capture" first โ€” this will trigger the permission request dialog.

The AI generation failed or timed out โ€” what should I do? +

AI generation requires an internet connection to reach the OpenAI API. Common causes of failure:

  • No internet connection โ€” check your connection and try again
  • OpenAI API outage โ€” check status.openai.com
  • Recording too long โ€” very long recordings (10+ minutes) may time out. Try shorter, focused recordings of 1โ€“3 minutes for best results
  • API key issue โ€” if you added your own API key in Settings, verify it is valid at platform.openai.com

After fixing the underlying issue, go back to the Home screen, select your project, and click "Open in Editor" to regenerate.

How do I upgrade to Pro? +

Pro unlocks unlimited AI generations, AI voice narration, cinematic zoom effects, all export formats (App Store Preview, TikTok, LinkedIn, Product Hunt, GIF), and logo branding.

  1. In DemoFlow AI, click any Pro-locked feature (shown with a ๐Ÿ‘‘ badge)
  2. The upgrade sheet will appear with monthly (ยฃ9.99/month) and annual (ยฃ79.99/year) options
  3. Choose your plan โ€” payment is processed securely by Apple
  4. Pro features activate instantly after purchase

You can also upgrade via Settings โ†’ Subscription.

How do I restore a Pro purchase on a new Mac? +

Your Pro subscription is tied to your Apple ID. To restore on a new Mac:

  1. Install DemoFlow AI from the Mac App Store (sign in with the same Apple ID that purchased Pro)
  2. Open the app โ€” it will check your entitlements automatically on launch
  3. If Pro is not restored automatically, go to Settings โ†’ Subscription โ†’ Restore Purchases
Where are my recording and export files saved? +

All files are stored locally on your Mac:

  • Recordings & projects: ~/Library/Application Support/DemoFlow AI/recordings/
  • Exported videos: Saved to a location you choose via the Export sheet, or the default export location set in Settings

To access Application Support: in Finder, hold Option and click Go โ†’ Library.

The exported video looks different from the editor preview โ€” why? +

The editor preview renders in real-time and may appear slightly different from the final export in a few edge cases:

  • The preview player uses your Mac's display resolution; the export renders at the full preset resolution (e.g. 1920ร—1080)
  • Background colours and gradients may appear very slightly different between preview and export due to colour space handling
  • If the voice narration timing seems off in the export, try toggling Regenerate All Voice in the Editor toolbar to re-sync

If you notice a significant discrepancy, please contact support with a description and we'll investigate.

Does DemoFlow AI work with iPad Simulator? +

Yes โ€” DemoFlow AI works with any iOS or iPadOS Simulator running in Xcode, regardless of device type (iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch). The recording automatically adapts to the Simulator window size and orientation.

Can I cancel my Pro subscription? +

Yes โ€” cancel anytime with no lock-in. To cancel:

  1. Open System Settings โ†’ Apple ID โ†’ Subscriptions
  2. Find DemoFlow AI Pro and click Cancel Subscription

You'll retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period. Alternatively, manage subscriptions at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.

Common Troubleshooting Steps

1

Restart DemoFlow AI

Quit the app completely (โŒ˜Q) and relaunch. Many transient issues resolve with a clean restart.

2

Check Screen Recording permission

System Settings โ†’ Privacy & Security โ†’ Screen Recording โ†’ ensure DemoFlow AI is toggled on.

3

Check your internet connection

AI generation requires internet access to reach the OpenAI API. A stable connection is needed for generation but not for editing or export.

4

Update to the latest version

Open the Mac App Store โ†’ Updates โ†’ ensure DemoFlow AI is up to date.
